H-GAC Seeks Public Input On Community Development Block Grant Mitgation Project Applications
The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC), in partnership with several local governments, will apply to the Texas General Land Office for approval to fund a selection of regional priority projects under a $62,000,200 allocation of Community Development Block Grant - Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) funds established by the approved Method of Distribution for Regional Mitigation Program funding for the Houston-Galveston region.

On Monday, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced it would take a "more targeted approach" in site visits to the workplaces of H-1B petitioners. Also on Monday, the Justice Department issued a press release "cautioning" employers petitioning for H-1B visas to not discriminate against American workers.

Houston Ebony Opera Guild announces its Annual African American Music Gala, a concert featuring SON OF MAN, composer Hall Johnson’s cantata based on African American Spirituals. Roland Carter will conduct the chorus. With Bishop Robert E. Hayes, Jr. as narrator, the performance will take place at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Westbury United Methodist Church, 5200 Willow-bend Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77096. LBJ was right, but wrong. When President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, he said of the Democratic Party, “We have lost the South for a generation.” However, President Johnson’s estimate of the damage done to his party in the eyes of white America was too optimistic. No Democratic candidate for president of the United States has won a majority of the white vote in the North or the South since 1964.
