In the 60 plus years I have been involved with equity issues, I have come to see very little true progress in significantly reducing health inequities. I have seen a significant increase in the number of seminars, workshops, programs, centers and/or institutes. Even with number of persons of color in leadership positions has increased. But the reductions in with the number of deaths the answer remains NO. The COVID-19 Pandemic has made this apparently clear, that what we are doing is not working. The question is what are we going to do about it other than hold more meetings and give speeches on how we increase our efforts to address this as a national priority?

Tuskegee University recognizes 47 New Doctors of Veterinary Medicine during 2022 spring commencement and admittance into veterinary medical profession during oath ceremony

The Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine (TUCVM) Class of 2022 had 47 new doctors of veterinary medicine recognized on April 30. Tuskegee University held its in-person Spring Commencement Graduate and Professional Schools Ceremony at the General “Chappie” James Center followed by the college’s in-person Veterinary Medicine Oath and Hooding Ceremony at the university’s Chapel. Thirty of the 47 students graduated with honors. They included four “Summa Cum Laude,” eight “Magna Cum Laude” and 18 “Cum Laude.” Both ceremonies were live-streamed for those not in attendance to view and are also available on the university’s YouTube channel for anyone who missed them to view later.

On Friday, May 13, Houston Symphony held its 2022 Wine Dinner and Collector’s Auction, Houston’s premier celebration combining the world-class music of the Houston Symphony and the best the wine world has to offer. For its 21st year, the Wine Dinner returned to the Jesse H. Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, the event’s longtime venue and the orchestra’s performance home. Guests raised more than $650,000 for the Symphony’s Education and Community Engagement initiatives.
