Presented by Women in Jazz Association, Inc., these ladies, supported by The AZUL Experience and percussionist James Fenner, are going to tell the whole story and take you on a fantastic musical journey. This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department and a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Judicial Watch Sues to Force North Carolina to Clean Its Voter Rolls

Lawsuit Alleges North Carolina has Nearly One Million Inactive Voters

Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a lawsuit against North Carolina and two of its counties for failing to clean their voter rolls. According to Judicial Watch’s analysis of voter registration data, many of North Carolina’s 100 counties have large numbers of ineligible voters on their rolls. Judicial Watch also alleges that the States’ own data shows that North Carolina has nearly one million inactive voters on its rolls (Judicial Watch v. North Carolina and North Carolina State Board of Elections, et al. (No. 3:20-cv- 211)).

Galveston Historical Foundation Becomes Steward of 1920 City National Bank Building

Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) recently accepted one of Galveston Island’s most significant downtown buildings. The 1920 City National Bank Building, owned by Ross Moody, a trustee of The Moody Foundation and Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of National Western Life Group, was donated to GHF in June. Located in the Central Business District at 2219 Market, the City National Bank building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (1984) and recognized as one of the city’s most important early 20th century buildings.

More Than 20,000 Women from Around the World Expected to Converge in Houston for the National Greek Sorority’s 68th International Conference

Houston’s own, Mia K. Wright, co-pastor and director of ministry at The Fountain of Praise, a 20,000-member megachurch, has been selected to serve as a keynote speaker at Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s 68th International Conference, which will kick-off in Houston this week. Wright will speak at the Ecumenical Worship Service on Sunday, July 10, 2018 from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Kurt Carr and The Kurt Carr Singers will be guest musical artists. The Ecumenical/Worship Service is open to the public, so attendees don’t have to be registered for the conference to attend.
