City of Houston "Paying It Forward" Volunteers Will Deliver Hurricane Laura Supplies Saturday Morning

Help is on the way for some East Texas residents who are working to rebuild their communities after the devastation caused by Hurricane Laura. Volunteers spent Friday collecting and packaging supplies that Houstonians have generously donated to the Paying it Forward Hurricane Laura relief effort.

Today, the Harris County Attorney’s Office (HCAO) filed an amicus (friend of the court) brief with the Texas Supreme Court opposing the Electricity Reliability Cooperative of Texas’s (ERCOT) argument that it is en- titled to governmental immunity (which would bar most people from suing ER- COT). The brief warns were the court to grant the ERCOT immunity, ERCOT could use that ruling to oppose lawsuits by residents in the wake of Winter Storm Uri and the collapse of the energy grid.
