Many from around the world came to Houston, Texas to say a final goodbye to George Floyd

As I walked inside of the Fountain of Praise sanctuary where the public memorial for George Floyd was being held, a cold, eerie, and chilling feeling came over my body. It caused me to take a pause stopping me in my tracks before I took my next step. I began to replay the audio from the murderous video of the tragic day that Floyd died in an almost nine-minute encounter in my mind.

As sports fans in Houston and surrounding areas cling to the possibility of sports returning soon, one of the biggest superstars in “The H” held a press conference via Zoom to reassure fans that he is ready for the season. He also gave a little insight on what he has been doing since being quarantined during this global pandemic (COVID-19).

It has been almost a month since the Texans lost in the divisional round to the eventual Super Bowl champions, Kansas City Chiefs. Normally it would take a complete cycle of OTA’s and training camp for the football fans in Houston to get over the loss. Most fans would start looking over the list of free agents that would be available and hoping that new general manager and head coach Bill O’Brien would bring in players to improve the team. Anything to help pass the time until the first game of the 2020 NFL season.

On a cold and breezy night, some of Houston’s elite came out to heat up the red carpet as the third annual Houston Sports Awards were held in downtown Houston. Many great athletes such as Oilers legend Warren Moon, Olympic Gold medalist Simone Biles, University of Texas legend Vince Young and many others were in attendance. Also attending the event were Houston’s rap royalty Bun-B, Slim Thug, and Paul Wall.

Astros Bats Make A Huge Impact In Four-Game Sweep Over The A’s

Houston (4-0) used a strong combination of hitting and pitching to take all four games from the defending A.L. West Champions Oakland A’s (0-4) including an impressive 9-2 win on Sunday. The Astros scored a combined 35 runs on the A’s averaging 8.75 runs per game which was almost as many as Oakland had for the entire series (9). They became the fourth team in Major League history to score eight or more runs in their first four games.

The “Brodie” era has officially begun in Houston. Russell Westbrook was introduced on Friday after being traded to Houston from the Oklahoma City Thunder for Chris Paul and two first-round picks in 2024 and 2026 with the rights to two first-round swaps in 2021 and 2025. The 2016-17 MVP was introduced by Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey who could hardly contain his excitement knowing that he had brokered a deal that could potentially bring the city of Houston another NBA championship.
