In a powerful demonstration of collaboration and community-driven progress, Teach For America (TFA) Houston and EMERGE celebrated the opening of their new shared office space with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, May 6. Located at 3555 Timmons Lane, this bold move symbolizes far more than a change of address—it marks a united front in the fight for educational equity across Houston.
Community leaders, education advocates, alumni, and partners gathered for a milestone moment that underscores both organizations’ unwavering commitment to expanding access and opportunity for students from underserved communities. The atmosphere was one of inspiration, gratitude, and renewed energy.
A Hub for Innovation, Purpose, and Possibility
The co-location of TFA Houston and EMERGE is a strategic leap toward deepening collaboration, optimizing resources, and amplifying their shared mission: ensuring every student—regardless of ZIP code—has the tools, support, and opportunities to thrive.
“This office marks not just a move, but a chance to reimagine what collaboration can look like when two organizations with a shared commitment to Houston’s students come together,” said Tiffany Cuellar Needham, Executive Director of Teach For America Houston.
The ribbon-cutting event featured heartfelt remarks from community champions, alumni, and current educators—including Karina Carcamo, a YES Prep teacher and proud alum of both TFA and EMERGE. Her story reflected the very essence of the partnership.
“I believe deeply in collaboration in the education space. Together, we can redefine what’s possible for students in Houston and beyond,” said Carcamo, drawing applause from attendees.
Designed for Impact: A Space that Sparks Change
Guests toured the newly unveiled office—a thoughtfully designed space tailored to spark connection, creativity, and innovation. The modern layout and shared amenities are designed to foster synergy between teams, creating an environment where ideas flow freely, and impact grows exponentially.
“This space is truly more than just an office; it’s a hub for innovation, collaboration, and deeper impact,” noted Janicca Garcia, Vice President of External Affairs at EMERGE.
Community advocate Janet Clark, a longtime supporter of both organizations, added,
“Lasting impact happens through partnership, not in isolation. This new shared space is a place where great ideas, shared values, and passionate people come together.”
A Strategic Partnership with Lasting Potential
As TFA Houston and EMERGE settle into their new home, they are more aligned than ever—driven by a belief in the limitless potential of every student and the power of partnership to dismantle barriers and open doors.
Together, they’re not just cohabitating—they’re co-creating a future where access to excellent education is not a privilege, but a right for all.
