Fighting for Essential Funding

At the heart of TSU’s advocacy efforts is securing Institutional Enhancement Appropriations, a crucial funding stream that strengthens student success programs, expands workforce-driven academic initiatives, and modernizes facilities to ensure operational efficiency.

Why This Matters Now

As Texas lawmakers convene for the 2025 legislative session, TSU is pushing for increased investment in:

  • Student Success Initiatives – Expanding holistic support services to boost persistence, progression, and graduation rates, particularly among first-generation students.
  • Academic Programs for Workforce Demands – TSU graduates are filling vital roles in healthcare, education, aviation, and law, directly impacting Texas’ economic growth.
  • State-of-the-Art Facilities – Modernizing infrastructure to enhance the student experience and ensure the University remains a competitive force in higher education.

“The 2025 legislative session is a game-changer for higher education in Texas,” said Brandon L. Simmons, Chairman of the TSU Board of Regents. “Securing increased funding will allow us to invest in student achievement, expand career pathways, and continue producing graduates who meet the demands of our dynamic economy. A stronger TSU means a stronger Texas.”
