League of Women Voters of Texas to Illuminate the Texas Capitol with ‘Light for Our Democracy’

In a time when democracy faces increasing challenges, the League of Women Voters of Texas, alongside its local chapters and national partners, is taking a stand. On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the Texas State Capitol will shine bright with Light for Our Democracy, a powerful event uniting communities in defense of voting rights, civic engagement, and the power of collective action.

A Call to Action: Defending Democracy Together
Democracy is more than a form of government—it is the voice of the people. While the nation turns its attention to the President’s address to Congress, Texans are invited to join a gathering of reflection, activism, and solidarity. Light for Our Democracy is a call to action, reminding us that real change happens when communities come together to protect and strengthen democratic values.

From the abolition of slavery to the expansion of voting rights, history has shown that progress is driven by unity. The League and its partners are asking citizens to step forward, stand up for fair elections, and safeguard the principles that make democracy thrive.
