The 18th Congressional District has gathered a list of a variety of activities, youth camps, and free meal resources to help you and your family make the most of the summer season. Whether you're looking for fun, learning opportunities, or support services, there's something for everyone in our district.
Camp & Events
City of Houston Sports and Recreation
The City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department offers free recreational sports opportunities for https://www.houstontx.gov/parks/youthsports-recreation.html children ages 4 to 18. To see the full list of activities and schedules, click here.

Houston Public Library CAMP STREAM
Camp STREAM is a free week-long summer program that allows students the opportunity to participate in activities relating to each aspect of STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts and Math) each day of the week. K-12. To see schedule and registration, click here.
In addition to CAMP STREAM, the Houston Public Library hosts a variety of daily events where kids ages 3-18 can enjoy crafts, technology classes, and book clubs. You may check out their events calendar here.
Children's Museum Houston
The Children’s Museum host’s a free Family Night every Thursday from 5-8PM. You may reserve your tickets in advance here.
The Health Museum Discovery Camp
The Houston Health Museum will host a variety of summer camps that provide hands-on experiments, health-themed interactive activities and behind-the-scenes exploration of the museum’s exhibits. University of Houston High School Student Summer Camps
The University of Houston, in partnership with Wonderworks, will host Pre-College Summer Programs in the arts and humanities for Houston area high school students. Full-tuition waivers are available for (but limited to) academically well-qualified Houston-area and Texas students who demonstrate financial need. University of Houston, Design YOU! Code Camp
The University of Houston will host a Code camp for students entering grades 6-8 in fall 2025 at no cost and are designed to provide computer coding/programming hands-on experience that provide challenging and innovative concepts in learning, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Planet Fitness High School Student Summer Pass
Planet Fitness invites high school students ages 14-19 to work out for free at various gym locations around Houston. Students can sign up for this program starting now through August 31st. Registration details can be found here.
Food Assistance
Houston Parks and Recreation Department Youth Meal Program
This summer, Houston Parks and Recreation Department Summer Food Service Program will provide free nutritious meals to school aged children 18 years and under at qualifying locations in Houston and greater Houston area. The summer food program will operate from Monday through Friday. To get a free meal, simply stop by one of the participating locations during meal service time and enjoy breakfast and/or lunch. Aldine ISD Summer Feeding Program
Aldine ISD will provide children 18 and younger and enrolled student with disabilities up to 21 years old with healthy, no cost summer meals. The Seamless Summer Option (SSO) is a U.S. Department of Agriculture nutrition program administered in the Lone Star State by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA).
