Mouseatouille Unleash New Single “Dogshow” Ahead of Third Album DJ Set

Naarm/Melbourne’s genre-bending nine-piece collective Mouseatouille are back with a fresh burst of energy, releasing their new single “Dogshow” ahead of their highly anticipated third album, DJ Set, arriving September 19 via Dot Dash Recordings / Remote Control. The announcement comes with big news: a headline DJ Set Tour across Australia and a coveted spot at the 33rd annual Meredith Music Festival, where they’ll join labelmates Perfume Genius and bar italia on one of the country’s most beloved stages.

Following its premiere on 3RRR’s Breakfasters, “Dogshow” has already sparked attention for its inventive sound and unique backstory. Written during lockdown, the track was pieced together through emailed recordings between bandmates and collaborators, highlighting Mouseatouille’s collaborative spirit and experimental approach. With contributions from Chicago’s Post Office Winter collective, the single blends banjo, violin, bass, and layered vocals into an expansive soundscape that bridges the delicate and the chaotic.

Singer-songwriter Harry Green describes the track as a meditation on the strangeness of creating music itself:

“Dogshow is about writing music and how strange it can feel to create something… We liked the idea of the first half of the album ending with the same melody that the second half begins with.”

Mouseatouille’s journey from a lo-fi cassette project to a dynamic nine-member powerhouse has been nothing short of remarkable. Originally formed by Green and drummer Spencer Noonan, the band has evolved into a genre-fluid collective weaving between tender indie folk, orchestral textures, and noise rock avalanches. Their reputation has grown steadily, sharing stages with celebrated acts like Floodlights, RVG, Katie Dey, Your Arms Are My Cocoon, and Black Country, New Road.

Their forthcoming album DJ Set captures the essence of their evolution — an ambitious work recorded haphazardly over five years in garages, share-houses, and living rooms, embodying both the precision of orchestral arrangement and the carefree spontaneity of friends making music for the sheer joy of it. Critics and fans alike praise Mouseatouille’s ability to balance pop sensibility with sonic experimentation, creating moments that rise into soaring crescendos or collapse into playful dissonance.
