Owings Mills, MD – Golf fans witnessed a masterclass in determination and composure on Sunday as Scottie Scheffler stormed back to win the 2025 BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club. Closing out the week at 15-under par, Scheffler’s dramatic comeback secured his fifth PGA TOUR title of the year, cementing his status as one of the game’s most dominant forces heading into next week’s TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, GA.
“It’s been a nice stretch the last few years and I’ve done some really good things. It’s nice to get the results from a lot of hard work,” Scheffler reflected after raising the prestigious J.K. Wadley Trophy. “This week was a good week. It was a battle all the way through. Fortunate to be sitting here.”
Akshay Bhatia’s Hole-in-One Sparks Scholarship & EV Win
The week wasn’t short on unforgettable moments. Rising star Akshay Bhatia electrified fans on Saturday with a spectacular hole-in-one on the 17th hole, earning himself a 100% electric BMW iX M70. But the moment carried an even greater impact—BMW triggered its seventh BMW Championship Hole-in-One Scholarship, a $125,000 full tuition and housing award to benefit a future Evans Scholar in Bhatia’s name.
Evans Scholars Foundation: Driving Education Forward
Since 2007, the BMW Championship has raised more than $60 million for the Evans Scholars Foundation, funding over 4,000 full scholarships for hardworking young caddies nationwide. Earlier this week, BMW Group leaders and dignitaries celebrated the opening of a brand-new Evans Scholars House at the University of Maryland, which will serve as a home for up to 38 students, underscoring the tournament’s long-standing commitment to education and youth empowerment.
“Each year, The BMW Championship only gets better,” said Sebastian Mackensen, President and CEO of BMW of North America, who presented the trophy alongside Maryland Governor Wes Moore and golf leaders. “From Akshay’s incredible ace to Scottie’s clutch win, this was a week to remember. But the real winners are the students whose futures are made brighter through the Evans Scholars Foundation.”
Looking Ahead
After the drama at Caves Valley, the season’s best head to Atlanta for the TOUR Championship, where Scheffler and the top 30 players will battle for the coveted FedExCup. Looking further ahead, the BMW Championship will return in 2026 to Bellerive Country Club (St. Louis, Missouri) and in 2027 to Liberty National Golf Club (Jersey City, New Jersey)—continuing its legacy of world-class golf and community impact.
As Scheffler looks to cap off a remarkable season, his latest triumph at the BMW Championship not only strengthens his standing as the sport’s leading figure but also highlights how golf, through the BMW partnership, continues to inspire lives both on and off the course.
