Holocaust Museum Houston Honors Survivors with Free Admission Days This May

This May, Holocaust Museum Houston (HMH) invites the community to experience powerful lessons of resilience and remembrance through a series of free admission days honoring two extraordinary Holocaust survivors: Walter Kase and Stefi Altman.

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, admission will be free in memory of Walter Kase, whose remarkable story of survival and hope continues to inspire generations. Kase was liberated on May 5, 1945, by the 71st Infantry Division of the United States Army. Though he passed away in 2015, his enduring legacy is honored through the Walter Kase Endowment Fund, making this day of reflection possible for the public.

Later in the month, on Thursday, May 15, 2025, visitors can explore HMH free of charge in tribute to Stefi Altman, another incredible survivor whose courage defied unimaginable odds. After enduring multiple concentration camps during WWII, Altman bravely escaped and survived the remainder of the war hidden beneath a barn in a coffin-sized space. Her strength and perseverance are remembered through the Stefi Altman Endowment Fund, ensuring that her story—and those of countless others—are never forgotten.

In addition, HMH proudly participates in the national Blue Star Museums program, offering free admission for active-duty military personnel and their families beginning Armed Forces Day (Saturday, May 17, 2025) through Labor Day (Monday, September 1, 2025). This initiative, created by the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense, reflects the Museum’s commitment to honoring service and promoting education for all.

🎟️ Free tickets for all designated dates must be reserved online at hmh.org/tickets.
