The Institute for Spirituality and Health at the Texas Medical Center is set to commemorate seven decades of pioneering work in the intersection of spirituality and healthcare with an extraordinary Platinum Jubilee Celebration. This landmark event will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. CT at the Texas Medical Center’s Helix Park, a hub of innovation and collaboration in healthcare.
For 70 years, the Institute has been a steadfast advocate for holistic healing—integrating spirituality, faith, and science to foster well-being across diverse communities. This historic celebration will honor the legacy of the Institute while looking ahead to the future of spiritual care in healthcare.

An Evening of Inspiration and Reflection
The 70th Anniversary Celebration will bring together healthcare professionals, faith leaders, scholars, and community advocates for an unforgettable evening of heartfelt tributes, inspiring keynote addresses, and powerful performances. Acclaimed Houston media personality Lisa Malosky will serve as the evening’s emcee, guiding attendees through a program that highlights the Institute’s mission, impact, and enduring legacy.
Adding to the event’s prestige, New York Times best-selling author and esteemed faculty member Dr. Lisa Miller will deliver the keynote address. As the founder of the Spirituality Mind Body Institute at Teachers College, Columbia University, Dr. Miller has dedicated her career to exploring the scientific and psychological dimensions of spirituality. Her work has shaped conversations on mental health, resilience, and faith, making her an ideal voice for this milestone occasion.
A Legacy of Holistic Healing and Compassion
Founded in 1955, the Institute has remained committed to serving individuals and communities in spiritual distress, end-of-life care, and health disparities. Unlike many healthcare organizations, the Institute for Spirituality and Health stands out as an independent, interfaith, and enduring institution, ensuring that spiritual care remains an integral part of medical and mental health practices.
“For seven decades, the Institute’s visionaries have understood that healing is incomplete without addressing the spiritual dimension of health,” said Leah Adams Pruitt, Vice President of Engagement at the Institute. “As we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to uplifting individuals, fostering healing spaces, and integrating spirituality into healthcare in a meaningful way.”
