Community Music Center of Houston Honors Rev. Absalom Jones and Celebrates Anniversary of Rev. Marcia Sadberry's Ordination with Concert

Community Music Center of Houston (CMCH) will host a special musical tribute honoring Rev. Absalom Jones and celebrating the anniversary of the ordination of Rev. Marcia Sadberry on Sunday, February 12 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Luke the Evangelist Episcopal Church.

Featuring the Scott Joplin Chamber Orchestra, saxophonist Horace Young, and children’s violin group, this event promises to be a memorable celebration of black music traditions. The program will also include selections from Quincy Jones' catalogue in honor of his 90th birthday anniversary.

"We are proud to celebrate Black History Month through music and to pay tribute to the contributions of Rev. Absalom Jones and Rev. Marcia Sadberry," said Dr. Anne Lundy, Music Director for CMCH. "We're also excited to celebrate the 90th birthday of Quincy Jones and the impact he has had on music."

Established in 1979, CMCH's mission is to preserve, appreciate, and perform music that reflects black music traditions. This annual Black History Month concert is a testament to CMCH's dedication to its mission and its commitment to the community.
