Today, the Hollins for Mayor campaign released information about a record-breaking fundraising period, which concluded June 30. Driven in part by grassroots email and text-banking efforts, Hollins’s campaign announced a total amount raised of over $1.1 million in less than five months since Hollins announced his candidacy.
The campaign received 2,408 individual contributions from nearly 1,700 individual donors. 1,519 donations were in the amount of $100 or less.
The campaign reported $941,155 in cash on hand for the upcoming campaign.
“Our fundraising success reflects the momentum we have seen since we began this campaign for Houston’s future. We’ve shown we can put together the resources to win – but we’ve done so much more. We’ve ignited a movement that is bringing the best ideas and solutions together to keep Houston the best city in America to live, work, and raise a family,” Chris Hollins said.
Community leaders have taken notice of Hollins’s approach.
Campaign treasurer Katy Caldwell, who recently retired as CEO of Legacy Community Health, said, “If you want to see how Chris Hollins will run this city, just look at how he is running his campaign: inclusive, innovative, disciplined, and results-oriented.”
Said voting rights activist Pam Gaskin, “Supporters, volunteers, and donors are getting involved in Chris Hollins’s campaign for Mayor because they know how important it is that we have a leader with the vision to move our city forward and who has proven he can get things done.”
“A lot of folks wondered if it was possible to get supporters excited this early when the election is so far off, especially with all that is going on right now. Well, Chris Hollins just showed us that not only is it possible, he is making it happen,” commented Arva Howard, an attorney who served the City of Houston for 20 years.
Tony Chase, Chairman and CEO of Chasesource LP, observed, “The first step to earning the right to lead a world-class city is putting together a first-class campaign. Chris Hollins has passed the test.”
Election Day is November 7, 2023. All announced candidates must report campaign finance totals for the most recent reporting period by July 15, 2022.
Chris Hollins has shown what local government can achieve when new ideas and accountable leadership are combined with a true sense of purpose. Hollins led the 2020 elections effort in Harris County as County Clerk, protecting and expanding voting rights for 2.5 million Houston-area voters during the most pivotal election in our lifetime. Hollins, currently an attorney in private practice, serves as a member of the Board of Directors of METRO, where he is helping to oversee METRO’s $1.3 billion budget, shaping its $7 billion expansion plan, and leading its full transition to renewable fuels by 2030.
