Our Money Matters (OMM) is set to present its inaugural Funny Money College Tour (F$CT), a HBCU/MSI “edutainment” experience, with a diverse mix of comedians and financial wellness influencers on Thursday December 2, 2021, 6pm-8pm CT, at University of Houston, Student Center South Theater, 4455 University Drive, TX, 77204. OMM is a comprehensive financial wellness initiative created by The Historically Black Colleges & Universities Community Development Action Coalition (HBCU CDAC), launching at campuses of color all over the country.
This uproarious event will be hosted by Headkrack (host of nationally syndicated Morning Hustle radio show) and feature comedians B. Simone and Brian “B-Tidy” Tidwell, Co-Host Incognito, and DJ Lo-Key will spin music during the exciting two-hour affair.
Students, faculty and community members will enjoy entertaining and interactive discussions with financial experts Larese Purnell and Ash Cash, who will address a myriad of student focused financial issues like student debt and budgeting, and alongside some of the most hilarious comedians, influencers and talented musical artists.
“We are collaborating with HBCUs and MSIs (Minority Serving Institutions) across the country to produce an educational and entertaining event that bridges financial gurus and today’s hottest celebrities to further promote the importance of financial wellness and having financial confidence,” stated Sharon Kent, Program Director, Our Money Matters.
OMM is a $5.6 million financial wellness initiative, funded exclusively by the Wells Fargo Foundation, created to help college students of color improve their financial stability, reduce stress and college debt, and accelerate financial inclusion. Over three years, OMM will engage 25 HBCU and Minority Serving Institution (MSI) campuses across the U.S., equipping roughly 40,000 students and community members with much needed financial capability skills, personalized tools for managing finances and student loans, and access to support services like career closets and emergency financial assistance.
“We’re excited to bring the “Funny Money College Tour” to the University of Houston, a critical anchor institution for diverse communities across the City of Houston and beyond,” said Tom DeBesse, region bank president for Wells Fargo. “While money and certainly financial challenges are never a laughing matter, this event will enable us to connect students and the local community with valuable tools and resources that can set them up for greater financial success and create generational wealth.”
