In an effort to assist local commerce and promote economic development and job creation, the Port of Houston Authority (Port Houston) has commissioned a disparity study to assess equal opportunity and fairness in its procurement and contracting process.
The disparity study will gather information necessary to determine whether all qualified firms have the maximum practicable opportunity to compete for and participate in Port Houston’s procurement of prime contracts and associated subcontracts and, if indicated by the evidence, will support the use of strategies to ensure such opportunity.
In the interest of preserving public health amidst COVID-19 concerns, Griffin & Strong, P.C., a law and public policy consulting firm, will conduct a virtual public hearing in webinar format on behalf of Port Houston. Community members are invited to share their experiences, both positive and negative, in doing business with, or pursuing business with Port Houston.
We encourage your participation and look forward to your feedback on how Port Houston can improve diverse representation in public contracting. As a part of the public record, all comments will be recorded and may be used as anecdotal evidence for the 2020 Disparity Study.
Virtual Public Hearing Date and Time:
Wednesday, June 17, 2020 – 12 p.m.-1:30 p.m. Central Standard Time
Griffin & Strong will facilitate and provide information about the study process. For questions or concerns, please email Griffin & Strong at PHADisparityStudy@gspclaw.com.
