April 1, 2020: The Turkey Leg Hut (TLH) received permits from the City of Houston late last week to begin construction of a 1,061 square foot expansion of the restaurant at 4830 Almeda Road to provide additional restaurant seating, restrooms and bar area!

The expansion will bring much anticipated additional indoor space to accommodate the guests at the wildly popular Turkey Leg Hut.

“We are thrilled to have the green light to move forward with this expansion,” said Nakia Price, Founder of the Turkey Leg Hut. “Our first priority is keeping everyone safe during this pandemic, but as we make our way through this as a community, we look forward to brighter days ahead with more indoor seating capacity and additional accommodations to better serve our guests once we are able to do so.”

Construction for the new restaurant expansion will begin as soon as possible, pending state and city directives to safely perform services during the coronavirus containment efforts, and is targeted for completion by summer.

The Turkey Leg Hut restaurant expansion is the first phase of three new expansion ventures TLH Founders Lynn and Nakia Price have planned to help boost the economy in Houston. Future brand expansion projects include The Daiquiri Hutt which will be located right next door to the Turkey Leg Hut on Almdea as well the Savoy Urban Beer Garden (located at 4402 Emancipation Avenue), and The Breakfast Hut, all within Historic Third Ward.

The restaurant remains open for take-out ordering and delivery only in order to help keep their guests, staff and the community safe amid growing COVID-19 containment efforts. TLH has implemented additional safety measures including encouraging customers to pre-order take-out food via phone at (832) 787-0770, asking people to wait in their cars until they receive a phone call that their order is ready, creating disposable paper menus and making sure customers practice proper social distancing when ordering on site, and adding daily delivery as an alternative to restaurant pick-up within a 15-mile radius from the restaurant to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
