Building Video Games and Learning to build them? Code Ninjas to Debut in Aliana, Richmond to Teach Kids Coding in a Cool Way

Code Ninjas Center Opens May 25 and Focuses on Building Video Games, Robotics, Drones, and other Technology and STEM Camps

RICHMOND, Texas (May 20, 2019) – Say the words “video game” and your kids are bound to stop and listen. The local owners of a new Code Ninjas, a learning center that debuts in Aliana, Richmond on May 25 at 10223 West Grand Parkway S. Ste. 101, in the Target Plaza, know that video games aren’t only fun, but can be educational too. Code Ninjas will serve the local area kids by teaching children computer coding and problem-solving skills.

The Grand Opening celebration is scheduled for May 25 between 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. This is a free event open to the community.

The Aliana, Richmond location is owned and operated by local resident Kalika Sinha. Kalika has always been interested in tech, but her children are really the ones who opened her eyes to this important subject. Interested in coding, Kalika’s daughter signed up for a coding camp that wasn’t close to where they live, but absolutely fell in love with the skills she learned there. That’s when Kalika got the idea to start looking around for a similar concept, one that she could bring to the greater Sugar Land area, including Richmond and Missouri City. Realizing that the technology sector has become integrated with all aspects of life and future careers, Kalika is excited to wrap her three passions including education, technology and kids, into one, by opening Code Ninjas centers in the Sugar Land, Richmond and Missouri City communities. Her kids are also joining in on the fun as her son is currently a yellow belt at Code Ninjas and her daughter helps out as a Sensei. The Aliana, Richmond location will be Kalika’s third Code Ninjas with two others currently open, in Greenwood/River Park and Riverstone. She has plans to open two more in the Sugar Land area in the coming years.

“The Code Ninjas concept is genius. It is preparing kids for their futures by teaching them two skills that we know the jobs of their future will require – programming and business,” said Kalika. “We are helping educate the workforce of tomorrow and kids at Code Ninjas will learn how to write code and bring their idea from concept to market by building their own app and selling it in the app store. It doesn’t get more real than that!”

Children ages 7-14 can look forward to visiting the new Code Ninjas center to learn how to code in a fun, safe, and social learning environment where gaming is celebrated, and STEM is cool. Everything about Code Ninjas is built around fun, which keeps kids coming back. The center also provides the results that parents are looking for, as their children gain coding and problem-solving skills they’ll need for the jobs of the future.

Code Ninjas accomplishes this with a robust, game-based curriculum made up of nine belts, just like martial arts. The curriculum is self-paced, but not self-taught; kids get immediate help and encouragement from Code Senseis as they advance from white to black belt. The program keeps kids motivated with little wins along the way, and “Belt-Up” celebrations where they receive color-coded wristbands to mark their graduation to the next level. By the time a child finishes the program, they will publish an app in an app store.

Code Ninjas offers a variety of opportunities for children to get involved, including a flexible weeknight drop-in program, STEM Summer camps and Parents Night Out events on weekends.

Code Ninjas founder and CEO David Graham is a professional software developer who previously owned a successful chain of coding camps for adults. After numerous inquiries from parents, Graham realized there was an unmet demand to teach children coding skills. He launched the Code Ninjas brand in 2016.

“Parents want their children to learn the critical skills that they’ll need in the future, but it also has to be fun for kids. Code Ninjas has found that sweet spot where kids have fun and parents see results, and we’re truly excited to bring our unique concept to Aliana and surrounding communities,” said Graham.
