New Hope Opens Affordable Housing for Formerly Homeless Families

New Hope Housing, one of the nation’s foremost providers of permanent, affordable and supportive single room occupancy (SRO) housing for adults living alone on a limited income, celebrates the grand opening of its first residential community for homeless and at-risk families. Located on seven acres at 2605 Reed Rd, New Hope Housing Reed (NHH Reed) includes 187 one, two and three-bedroom rental apartment units. NHH Reed is adjacent to Star of Hope’s 41-acre family development campus, Cornerstone CommunitySM, which provides a variety of emergency and recovery services for women and children. Designed to help uplift families from situational and generational poverty, NHH Reed houses low- to moderate-income families earning 30-60 percent of Area Median Income (AMI), which in Houston for a family of four is $20,750-to-$41,520.
