Senator Borris L. Miles is hosting a Job Fair in communities with high unemployment rates. According to the 2011-2015 ACS, US Census Bureau, Third Ward, Greater OST/South Union, Sunnyside and South Park neighborhoods have some of the highest rates of unemployment in the City of Houston. This Job Fair will address those needs by offering good paying jobs to the residents of those communities.

The event will also include a Job Skills Workshop at 9AM for participants to learn how to write or revise a resume, interview and network. The Job Fair will begin at 10am with more than 40 employers looking to fill positions.

The job fair is Friday, September 21, 2018, from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM Job Skills Workshop and 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Job Fair at Houston Community College - Central Campus, 1300 Holman Street, Houston, Texas 77004. FREE PARKING available at Lot #9. Houston has an unemployment rate of 4.6, but data indicates communities of color in urban cities have the highest rates of unemployed and underemployed.

With Texas experiencing steady job growth and adding jobs for more than 25

consecutive months, Senator Borris Miles wants to give these communities the

opportunity to compete for these jobs.
