Ayesha Curry Visits Houston to Promote New Restaurant

A much long-awaited visit from Lifestyle Expert and Cookbook author Ayesha Curry, co-owner with Chef Michael Mina of International Smoke, finally culminated in a week-long visit to Houston with back to back events including a book-signing and cocktail demo during happy hour, that had Ayesha behind the bar creating Gina Jamaica cocktails for guests. Following the happy hour, she and the rest of the IS team hosted a grand opening event that benefited KidsMeal. The invitation-only soiree treated guests to a meet and greet with Curry, as well as a culinary feast in the form of multiple food stations with chefs (indoor and out) cooking on a Caja China, where they roll out and use charcoal to cook in front of the guests. Executive Director Beth Braniff Karp from KidsMeal was on hand to address the crowd and highlight the mission of the organization, which is to provide meals to toddler-aged children under 5 years old. Money raised that evening goes directly to the purchase of a new van to service new neighborhoods with children in need.
