Texas Bikers Raise $28,000 to Fund Breast Cancer Healthcare for Women in Need

Houston, TX [May 18, 2018] - Motorcycle-lovers from all across Houston came out in droves to support The 10th Annual Bikers Against Breast Cancer (BABC) event held on Saturday, May 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the San Jacinto Harley Davidson store located at 3636 E. Sam Houston Parkway South, Pasadena, TX 77505. This empowering 60-mile ride over the Fred Hartman bridge raised funds for The Rose, the leading breast healthcare nonprofit in Southeast Texas, to honor those who have faced the disease and to make life-saving services possible for more women.

The event officially started at 8:30am, with the 60-mile round trip ride beginning at 10:30am, and concluded with an afternoon of food from local cooking team Nut’n But Smoke Kookers, music, and a silent auction. Auction items included a leather riding vest, Astros watch, Harley-Davidson basket, custom Astros fishing pole, Rudy’s BBQ basket, Casa Ole party basket and more. Guests also had the chance to shop from a wide selection of vendors selling items like custom vest patches, jewelry and BABC merchandise.

“For the last decade, BABC and our supporters have ridden out in style to help The Rose care for uninsured women,” said Charles Christy, BABC Committee Chair. “I myself have witnessed how this ugly disease can affect an entire community and I was proud to see it fought once again by such a passionate group in my final year as the Chair of BABC.”
