Houston’s Largest Turkey Trot Celebrates 25 Years

The TXU Energy BakerRipley Turkey Trot brings together thousands on Thanksgiving Morning

November 23, 2017– Thousands of trotters are expected to fill the Galleria area on Thanksgiving Morning in support of a good cause.

The TXU Energy BakerRipley Turkey Trot attracts nearly 20,000 supporters and runners of all ages to Houston’s Galleria area. There’s something for everyone- Competitive and noncompetitive Phillips 66 5K, 10K, Wheelchair and kids run. The post-race celebration includes free food, music, a kid’s area and other fun family activities.

This year, the TXU Energy BakerRipley Turkey Trot is celebrating 25 years of bringing Houstonians together to make a positive difference in the lives of the nearly half-a-million individuals BakerRipley serves each year.

BakerRipley, formerly Neighborhood Centers, has been around for more than 110 years connecting hardworking families to opportunities by linking them to education, job training, and economic support such as free tax preparation and business development.

Shortly after Hurricane Harvey devastated our region, BakerRipley stepped up to run one of the emergency shelters that welcomed nearly 8,000 neighbors impacted by the storm. BakerRipley is one of several non-profit agencies that will be providing long-term recovery for families and individuals impacted by Harvey.

Turkey Trot participants, supporters and volunteers will help BakerRipley continue to serve the community and rebuild lives in the aftermath of Harvey.
