Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5000 West Bellfort about 6 p.m. on Thursday (May 4).

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer C. Tosso reported:

The victim was walking southbound on Runnymeade and crossing at the West Bellfort intersection in a crosswalk, but against the "do not walk" signal. A male driving a silver Pontiac G6 was traveling on West Bellfort with a green light when the vehicle struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, who was at-fault, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was questioned and released without charges.
