HOUSTON - Houston Dash star Kealia Ohai is opening up about her relationship with Houston Texans star J.J. Watt.

KHOU 11 Sports’ Matt Musil on Friday caught up with Ohai, who has been selected for the women’s national team.

Ohai said Watt trains with her sometimes, and she’s impressed by his soccer skills.

“He’s just really positive,” she said. “He’s a great guy. He’s obviously a great athlete, so it’s been good to be around that and see how hard he trains, and he’s awesome.”

Texans linebacker Brian Cushing is married to Ohai’s sister, Megan Cushing. With Brian Cushing and Watt being such good friends, it should come as no surprise these two standout athletes would find one another.

“We’ve been friends for a long time, almost five years,” Ohai said.

Ohai has been a star athlete most of her life, so she knows all about being in the spotlight. But it’s always been positive – until recently. That’s because thousands of young women had their hearts broken when it was revealed she had won Watt’s love.

“It’s a little weird,” she said. “I’m not totally…I don’t like posting a lot and talking a lot about it, so it’s a little weird for me. But yeah, I know there’s a lot of girls that are mad at me.”
