METRO’s Office of Economic Business Opportunity (OEBO) commemorated its 20th anniversary with a milestone celebration on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the METRO Building. The event recognized two decades of commitment to empowering small, minority-owned, and historically underutilized businesses across the Houston region.
The event brought together business leaders, community stakeholders, and METRO executives to reflect on OEBO’s legacy and reaffirm its future goals. METRO President & CEO Thomas Jasien delivered powerful remarks on the agency’s dedication to inclusive economic development. Michael Kyme, Chief Procurement Officer, highlighted OEBO's integral role in advancing equitable procurement practices, while Shurronda Murray, Manager of Procurement, shared inspiring success stories that underscored the impact of OEBO’s programs.
