The 2025 Houston Community Media Expo, Conference & Awards, held on Tuesday, July 8 at the United Way of Houston, brought together leaders, changemakers, and communicators under the theme "Building Stronger Communications to Serve All Our Communities." Hosted by Sandy Close, President of Ethnic Media Services, and Nakia Cooper, Director of Houston Community Media, the event spotlighted the power of inclusive storytelling and grassroots journalism. With a keynote address by Dr. Laura Murillo**, President and CEO of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, attendees were inspired to amplify marginalized voices and bridge information gaps across diverse communities. The day celebrated collaboration, innovation, and the ongoing commitment to equitable media representation in Houston and beyond.
