Photography by Vicky Pink - The Imani School celebrated 30 years of educating children to have bright futures at their anniversary “Portraits of Excellence” gala. Guests were transported from the school’s early days with founder Pastor Kirbyjohn Caldwell and director Patricia Hogan Williams to today with reflections from students, alumni, faculty, parents, and community partners. Current Imani students entertained the audience showing off their many talents. Some spotted in the crowd of distinguished guests included honorary chairs Cydonni and State Senator Borris Miles, Congressional Members Sheila Jackson Lee and Al Green, Anita and Gerald Smith, Dr. Marcus Cosby, Dr. James Dixon, Marcus Davis, former Houston Mayor Lee P. Brown, Rev. Suzette Caldwell, Gayla Gardner, Lauren Anderson, Jackie Alton, Yvette Mitchell, Vonda Mays, Wayne Luckett, Paula McCann Harris, Fallon Page, Dallas Jones, and Melinda Spaulding.
