Photography by Vicky Pink - Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee led a unity event for all stakeholders so that a program of educational excellence for Houston’s schoolchildren would be devised. The state of our schools has long been a concern of mine of the Congresswoman and the problems have been compounded by Hurricane Harvey, schools needing improvement, teachers’ pay, and more. The forum gave the community an opportunity to seek and share answers to many commonly held questions and concerns. Some in attendance were Trustee Jolanda Jones, State Rep. Dr. Alma Allen, Rev. Alexander Johnson, Trustee Dr. Carolyn Evans-Shabazz, and State Rep. Ron Reynolds.
