Houston Gets Ready for Hurricane Season

Photography by Vicky Pink - June 1st was the official start of the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season and Mayor Sylvester Turner is making sure Houstonians are prepared. In a recent press conference, Mayor Sylvester Turner discussed the city's hurricane preparations, encouraged citizens to make plans to keep their families safe, and shared the lessons learned after Hurricane Harvey. He stressed the need for citizens to get supplies for a disaster kit and monitor news sources. Houston Fire Department Chief Samuel Peña spoke about how his team is ready having had more training, getting more evacuation boats and high-water rescue vehicles.
