Jazz Education Inc. founded by Bubbha Thomas knew the impact of kids and saw a lack of music education in schools. He established JEI to fill that void. An entity of JEI is the H-E-B Tournament of Champions Summer Jazz Workshop. The five-week intensive summer youth camp focuses on the fundamentals of music and its associated business aspects for young musicians. Lending their talents to this year’s workshop were Kirk Whalum Sr, Kyle Turner, William Thomas, Al Campbell, Lloyd Hughes, Brent Nabors, Kelly Dean, Gaila Queensusique, John Schutza, Chris Dave, Donald Patterson, LaRon Land, Will Minix, and others.
