Photography by Ken Jones - Eighteen young ladies made their official society debut at the biennial debutante ball presented by the ladies of the Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. ABC13’s Chauncey Glover and Texas Southern University’s First Lady Loren Lane served as the emcees for the splendid event that was chaired by Staci Taylor-Fullmighter and Bianca Roberts Anderson. Debutantes participated in a number of events and workshops to cultivate their character and fine tune their social skills during the months leading up to the ball. Some in attendance included chapter president; past national and regional officers Faye B. Bryant, Gwendolyn Brinkley and Polly Sparks Turner; Cherise Story, Lisa Brooks, JoAnn Brown, Patricia Roberts, LaDonna Harris, Vanita Reed, Shaunthenia Edwards, Chantay DeBlanc, Betty Merritte-Williams, Cherry Gooden, Pamela Evans, DiAnn Roberson, Connie Cochran, Joyce Jacquet, Dee Foley, Krystle Simpson-Hamlet, and Shanda Provost.
