8th Annual Leaders of Democracy Awards Luncheon

Photography by Vicky Pink - On Wednesday, September 16, 2015, Houston Style Magazine was on hand in Washington, D.C. at the 8th Annual Leaders of Democracy Awards Luncheon held in association with the Congressional Black Caucus. The luncheon was hosted by The Memorial Foundation, Inc. benefitting The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. The Memorial Foundation honors members of congress and others who exemplify the memorial’s tenets of democracy, justice, love, and hope. Three were presented with the Stone of Hope award. Some in attendance were Congressman John Conyers, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Harry E. Johnson Sr., Sylvester Turner, and Vernita Harris.
