OBO’s 3rd Champions of Diversity Awards

Photography by Vicky Pink - On Thursday, December 10, 2015, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Houston Public Library’s Historic Julia Ideson Building for the City of Houston Office of Business Opportunity (OBO) Advisory Board’s 3rd Annual Champions of Diversity Awards Ceremony. Mayor Annise Parker served as honorary chair at the event that honored prime contractors, as well as Minority, Women, Small, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (MWSDBEs) for their outstanding performances on City of Houston contracts. One of the evening’s highlights is the presentation of the “Ernest B. McGowen, Sr. Champion of Diversity Award” to Richard Huebner. This year’s event was even more memorable as OBO celebrate the award of more than $2 billion to MWSDBEs on City contracts during Mayor Annise Parker’s Administration. Some in attendance were Carlecia D. Wright, Mario Diaz, Argentina James, Rev. Mia Wright, Linda Lorelle, and Phyllis Bailey.
