Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.'s 14th Annual Jazz Soiree

Photography by Vicky Pink - On Sunday, December 6, 2015, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at Hilton Americas Houston Hotel as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. – Houston Alumnae Chapter presented their 14th Annual Jazz Soiree. Themed “A Salute to Houston Jazz Artists Along the Continuum,” the ladies saluted Houston jazz artists Yvonne Washington, Kyle Turner, Chris Mitchell, and Tom Burton. In addition to live entertainment, dinner, dancing, a silent auction and product vendors, 12 celebrity waiters including Monique Hayes, Richard Thomas, David Anderson III, Dr. Benté Gage, Walter H. Criner Sr. and Christine Criner Smith served as guests and presented $1,000 scholarships. Proceeds from this event provide financial support to high-achieving, college-bound students who are members of historically underrepresented populations at institutions of higher education. Some in attendance were Cindy George, Tina Jones, Judson Robinson, Genora Boykins, Nita Gilbert, Billy Gilbert, Tiffany Gilbert, Lillian Gilbert, Katilyn Gilbert, Wanda Lavine, Deandria Lavine, Shanedria Wagner, and Joyce Jacquet.
