On Friday, October 3, 2014, Houston Style Magazine celebrated 25 years of being Houston's leading African American media company at their 25th Anniversary Awards Reception at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse in the Galleria. Under the theme “Reflecting on Our History, Investing in Our Future,” first Houston Style Magazine reporter and "edutainer" Erik Cork was an excellent emcee as he hosted those in attendance at the elite affair. Houston Style Magazine named Ndaba Mandela (founder, Africa Rising Foundation and grandson of Nelson Mandela) Global Humanitarian; Dwight Howard (Houston Rockets) Champion of Change; and Tony Wyllie (Senior Vice President, Washington Redskins) Hometown Hero. Also recognized were corporate partners Macy's with the Legacy Award, H-E-B with the Heritage Award; Wal-Mart with the Visionary Award; GM with the Pinnacle Award; and Wells Fargo with the Triumph Award. The star studded event even included a special appearance by co-founder of Destiny Moscato, model and producer of Hollywood Exes Nicole Murphy. It was the hottest ticket in town to have. Guests enjoyed photo opps with the stars,a fabulous spread with Hennessy flowing, walked away with a Macy's swag bag and bottle of Destiny Moscato, and heard inspiring words from keynote speaker Ndaba Mandela and National Newspaper Publishers Association Chairman Cloves C. Campbell, Jr. and NNPA President Dr. Ben Chavis, Jr. Proclamations from the Mayor Annise Parker and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee were presented by Mayor pro-tem Jerry Davis and Trustee Erica Lee Carter. It was an epic night for Houston Style Magazine publisher and editor Francis Page, Jr., his family, and Team Style Mag.
