Unaccompanied Children Meeting

On Saturday, July 12, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern University for a meeting concerning unaccompanied children coming into the US from Central America. Faith leaders were invited to discuss Houston’s response to this growing concern that has divided our country on how we deal with this humanitarian crisis. Dr. Freddie Haynes, III Senior Pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas was a special guest as he has traveled to the border and is part of the organizing efforts in Dallas, TX. Some in attendance were Rev. William A. Lawson, Rev. Terrance Grant Malone, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Rhonda Skillern-Jones, Laurie A. Robinson, Dr. E. Leon Etter, and Stephen L. Williams.
