Photography by Vicky Pink - On February 11, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Harris County Board of Education Building for the Africana Aesthetics: African Americans in Film, Media, and Communications Conference Plenary Session hosted by the University of Houston’s African American Studies Program. Sponsored by the Houston Arts Alliance, the session featured panelists M.K. Asante, Award Winning Filmmaker and Best Selling Author; Charnele Brown, Actress and Producer; and Fred Thomas, R & B Divas Reality Show Producer. The conference also included paper presentations on sub topics themes, which address both cultural and structural approaches to the study of Africana Aesthetics phenomena internationally.
