Photography by Roswitha Vogler - On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at Houston Fire Station #68 as Houston H-E-B Stores commemorated September 11th by lending a hand to local firefighters. Through a company-wide volunteer service project, Helping Heroes, more than 1,200 H-E-B partners from 85 H-E-B stores in the Houston region visited local fire stations to serve breakfast and lunch to firefighters. Volunteers also performed service and maintenance projects along with firefighters, such as yard work, station cleaning, equipment cleaning and preparation work. This is the ninth year that H-E-B partners through the Helping Heroes program has celebrated and honored local fire departments and commemorated the heroism of civil servants throughout the state.
