2013 H-E-B Slim Down Showdown

On Monday, January 28, 2013, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the H-E-B Bunker Hill Store as H-E-B kicked off Slim Down Showdown with Pantry Makeovers. Contestants in the H-E-B’s 2103 Slim Down Showdown contest, presented by Dole, took a guided shopping trip with H-E-B dietitians during a Pantry Makeover event to help them get started on the path to healthy living. H-E-B selected 25 participants from around the state to compete in the 2013 Slim Down Showdown, with a chance to win a $10,000 grand prize, a $5,000 “fan favorite” prize or a $3,000 “health hero” prize. The contest began Jan. 13 with an intensive, weeklong wellness program in San Antonio and will continue for the next 12 weeks. The Showdown is designed to give contestants the education and tools they need to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle, and to share what they learn with friends, family, coworkers and the wider community.
