Hey Houston – today only! Kroger stores across Texas and Louisiana are showing appreciation for senior shoppers with a special one-day-only discount event. Today, September 3, customers ages 55 and older will receive an extra 5% off their total in-store purchase simply by using their Kroger loyalty card or alternate ID and letting the cashier know they qualify.

“This is more than a discount—it’s a thank you,” said Rudy DiPietro, President of Kroger’s Texas Division. “We’re proud to serve our senior community and help them save on the fresh foods and everyday essentials they rely on. Whether it’s a favorite pantry item or a seasonal treat, we’re making it easier to shop smart and stretch every dollar.”

The discount applies to a wide range of items, including pantry staples, fresh produce, over-the-counter medications, and household essentials. Shoppers enrolled in most Medicare Advantage plans can also use their Food and OTC Benefit cards for added convenience on eligible groceries and health-related purchases.

With cooler months approaching, Kroger encourages seniors to take advantage of the opportunity to stock up on fresh seasonal produce and explore quick, easy meal solutions. Additional savings are available through Kroger’s Our Brands collection, offering more than 17,000 high-quality products at budget-friendly prices.

Exclusions apply, including alcohol, tobacco, fuel, gift cards, prescriptions, and other restricted items.

For added flexibility, customers can shop in-store, or through Kroger Pickup and Delivery, which offers the same fresh products at the same low prices. Shoppers can also save more with Boost by Kroger Plus, a delivery membership that offers savings on groceries, fuel, exclusive discounts, streaming options, and more.
