Houston Area Urban League Equal Opportunity Day Gala December 13

The Houston Area Urban League (HAUL) will host its annual Equal Opportunity Day Gala on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Hilton Americas Houston. This year’s theme, “Stronger Together: A Legacy in Motion,” celebrates 57 years of service, leadership, and community impact as HAUL continues its mission to support economic self-reliance and build resilient communities across Greater Houston.

The gala serves as HAUL’s premier fundraising event, bringing together business leaders, elected officials, and community partners to honor individuals and organizations making a lasting difference in the region. Funds raised support HAUL programs in workforce development and training, entrepreneurship, housing and social services, health and wellness, education and youth development, and civic engagement through the Center for Social Justice and Education. Last year, HAUL programs empowered more than 10,000 individuals and families, helping youth access education and leadership opportunities, adults secure sustainable careers, entrepreneurs expand their businesses, and families achieve homeownership and financial stability.

This year’s gala chairs are Morris and Toni Mooney Smith. Their leadership highlights the evening, which will recognize four distinguished community leaders: James Harris of H-E-B, Ann Barnett Stern of Houston Endowment, Eric Mullins of Lime Rock Resources, and June Deadrick of CenterPoint Energy. Guests will enjoy fine dining, entertainment from R&B group After 7 and the energetic sounds of Cupid, and a lively after-party hosted by DJ Chilly Bill Smith.

The event is made possible through the support of sponsors, including Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages as Title Sponsor, along with Shell USA, Inc., JPMorgan Chase, Dr. Ruth Simmons, SouthState Bank, H-E-B, Sysco, GEICO, United Airlines, the Astros Foundation, Houston Style Magazine, and additional partners. Proceeds from the gala directly support HAUL’s mission and programs throughout the Houston community.
