For Houstonians looking to trade city lights for twinkling holiday magic, the newly renovated Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas in San Antonio is offering the ultimate festive escape. Nestled on 300 scenic acres, the resort will kick off the holiday season with its First Annual Hyatt Hill Country Tree Lighting Event and Holiday Extravaganza on Friday, November 28.

Open to the public, the event promises a full evening of seasonal cheer — from live reindeer and local high school musical performances to fireside s’mores, hot cocoa, and holiday crafts. Guests can also look forward to an unforgettable moment when Santa makes his grand entrance in a bright red Ferrari, honoring the Ferrari Kid charity organization. A portion of proceeds will benefit the nonprofit, which brings joy to children battling cancer and other chronic illnesses by giving them a “celebrity-for-a-day” experience.

At 7 p.m., Santa will join guests in lighting the resort’s iconic giant live oak tree, officially ushering in the holiday season. Festivities continue throughout the night with photo opportunities, live entertainment, and a holiday movie under the stars.

For those who plan to stay the weekend, the celebration continues with a lineup of family-friendly events, including Breakfast with Santa, storytime with elves, and holiday goat yoga featuring goats dressed in festive sweaters. Throughout December, the resort will also host recurring “S’mores with Santa” and “Breakfast with Santa” experiences every Friday and Saturday, leading up to Christmas.

The Tree Lighting and Holiday Extravaganza is open to the community for $25 per person, which includes access to the ceremony, s’mores, hot cocoa, and photo opportunities. Admission is complimentary for overnight resort guests.

To close out the season, Hyatt Regency Hill Country will ring in the new year with a family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration complete with fireworks.
