Houston to Honor Veterans with Parade, Ceremony, and Keynote Address on November 11

Houston Mayor John Whitmire is inviting the public to join the city in honoring the brave men and women who have fought and sacrificed for our liberty and freedom at the City of Houston Veterans Day Parade and Program on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

The annual “Houston Salutes American Heroes Veterans Day Celebration” will feature Sgt. Major Angela Maness, U.S. Marine Corps, Retired, as the keynote speaker. Sgt. Major Maness devoted 30 years to active-duty service, holding roles as an Administrator, Drill Instructor, Range Coach, and training Officer Candidate School candidates in Quantico, Virginia. She served in multiple combat deployments supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and earned numerous honors, including the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

The traditional Veterans Day Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at City Hall, featuring acknowledgments and the keynote address from Sgt. Major Maness. At 11 a.m., a Moment of Silence will be observed in memory of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I, honoring veterans past and present.

Following the ceremony, the American Heroes Parade will kick off at 11:30 a.m. starting at Dallas and Bagby Streets. The parade route will proceed east on Dallas, north on Louisiana, west on Walker, south on Smith, and west on Lamar, ending at Lamar and Bagby. Local veteran organizations, ROTC units, marching bands, and community supporters will participate in the parade to show respect and honor for all who have served. The event is open to the public, and all are welcome to join along the parade route.

Texas is home to the largest veteran population in the nation, with more than 250,000 veterans residing in the state. The City of Houston’s Veterans Day celebration is an opportunity for the community to come together, honor these heroes, and show gratitude for their service and sacrifice.
