Donovan “Don” Lewis, a seasoned events and marketing professional and proud Lake Charles resident, is the visionary CEO of Krewe of Bridge, LLC, an organization that continues to redefine Mardi Gras celebrations through artistry, inclusivity, and innovation. Founded during the pandemic lockdowns, Krewe of Bridge emerged from Lewis’s long-standing admiration for local traditions, notably the Krewe of Illusions and Krewe de Classique. What began as a creative outlet soon evolved into a full-fledged enterprise blending culture, performance, and community engagement.

The krewe made its debut with reality television star Letecia Pearson of OWN’s Belle Collective, marking the beginning of what Lewis describes as “a journey of trial and error, passion, and perseverance.” As a one-man operation, he has successfully managed the creative, logistical, financial, and executional aspects of the organization—proving that vision and dedication can indeed turn a dream into reality.
Now entering its fourth Mardi Gras season, Krewe of Bridge is poised for its grandest celebration yet. The organization recently announced that Grammy Award-winning singer Jennifer Holliday will reign as Queen of Krewe of Bridge for the 2026 Mardi Gras season (American Press, 2025). This partnership is set to elevate the festivities, as the krewe hosts an invitation-only event on February 16, 2026, at the Historic City Hall Arts and Cultural Center in Lake Charles.

Krewe of Bridge is also expanding beyond Louisiana. On January 31, 2026, the organization will host its inaugural Chicago event in collaboration with the Dillard University Chicago Alumni Chapter and Texas Southern University (TSU) Chicago Alumni Chapter (Click Here To Register for the event). The event will celebrate Louisiana’s rich Mardi Gras heritage while introducing Chicago audiences to the krewe’s unique fusion of art, culture, and community. Plans are already in motion to launch a Chicago-based membership extension and an annual ball honoring the shared cultural ties between the two cities.

Drawing modern inspiration from legendary New Orleans organizations such as the 6th Ward Steppers, Krewe of Endymion, and Zulu, Krewe of Bridge embodies both tradition and transformation. As Lewis envisions it, the krewe aims “to go big—an extravaganza of artistry, pageantry, and purpose.”
