Fort Bend County Libraries will once again partner with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) to offer free income-tax-preparation assistance for low-income taxpayers at multiple library locations. The program will run from February 1 through April 15, providing support for individuals in need of help with their 2024 tax returns.
While income-tax forms will not be available at the libraries, patrons can use library computers and printers to access and print forms from the IRS website, www.irs.gov. A library card, which is free, is required to use the printers, and printing costs 10¢ per black-and-white page.
To ensure efficient tax preparation, participants are advised to bring key documents, including a photo ID, Social Security cards for all family members, last year’s tax return, W-2 and 1099 forms, unemployment compensation statements, and any other necessary documentation.
