Pasadena ISD
On April 12, 2024, Pasadena ISD celebrated the reopening of Kruse Elementary’s SPARK Park, originally dedicated in 2013. The event brought together students, staff, and community members for a day of celebration and performances.
The renovated park, a collaborative effort between Kruse parents, students, and community partners, features a Custom KidBuilder structure, inclusive team totter, shaded 3 Bay Arch swings, and a multi-user disc swing. All Play served as the playground contractor.
Funded by $100,000 in “park desert” grants from the Kinder Foundation, Houston Endowment, Cullen Foundation, and the Brown Foundation, the project supports the goal of ensuring park access within a ten-minute walk for all residents.
The event included presentations of a U.S. flag from Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia’s office, a Texas flag from State Representative Mary Ann Perez’s office, and a certificate of recognition from State Senator Carol Alvarado’s office. K
Among those recognized for their contributions were Principal Sandra Buckner, local officials, Pasadena ISD leadership, and partners from SPARK and construction teams.
Founded in 1983, SPARK has created more than 200 parks across Houston and Harris County, with several located at Pasadena ISD schools.

Kempner High School Student Wins National Veterans Appreciation Challenge
Jimmy Muhammadis, a student at Kempner High School, has been named the national winner of the Army Education Outreach Program’s Veterans Appreciation Challenge for his design of a 3D-printed pin honoring military veterans.
Selected from thousands of entries, Muhammadis’ winning design resembles a veteran’s medallion. The pin features a central star symbolizing bravery and valor, surrounded by a ring that mirrors the white stripes of the American flag, representing protection and unity. The outer ring includes the phrase “honoring those who served,” reinforcing the theme of patriotism and gratitude.
The pin also includes a golden tint, a small central disk, and a hook for easy attachment, all contributing to its thoughtful, wearable design.
As part of his award, Muhammadis will attend a Memorial Day event at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, where he will present the pin to veterans. He will also receive a 3D printer to donate to an organization of his choice.
His creation serves as a tribute to those who have served in the armed forces, encouraging others to reflect on their sacrifices and express appreciation.

Klein ISD Automotive Programs Receive Lincoln Aviator Donations from Planet Ford and Ford Motor Company
In a significant boost to its Automotive Technology Programs, Klein ISD has received two brand-new Lincoln Aviators donated by Randall Reed’s Planet Ford and Ford Motor Company. One vehicle will be used at Klein Oak High School and the other at Klein Cain High School.
The donation is part of the Ford Automotive Career Exploration (ACE) program, aimed at preparing students for careers in the automotive industry by giving them direct access to the latest in vehicle technology. The initiative builds on Klein ISD’s involvement in the Houston Automobile Dealers Association (HADA) Auto Tech Competition and strengthens the district's growing partnerships with industry leaders.
With these state-of-the-art vehicles now available for hands-on learning, students will gain real-world experience in diagnostics, repair, and advanced automotive systems—skills that closely mirror those used in professional service centers across the country.
The collaboration between education and industry underscores a shared commitment to student success and workforce readiness. By placing cutting-edge resources in classrooms, Planet Ford and Ford Motor Company are helping students build technical expertise and confidence in their future careers.
Klein ISD expressed its gratitude for the generous support, emphasizing how this partnership helps bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry application, setting students on a path toward high-demand, high-skill careers in the automotive field.
