Council Member Edward Pollard has unveiled MoreJobsHouston.com, a new website aimed at simplifying the job search process for residents of Houston. The platform offers easy access to job openings, career resources, and support services, addressing the city's financial challenges and its ranking as the most financially distressed city in the U.S. according to WalletHub, as well as the 12th most difficult city for workers according to a Final Round AI analysis.
MoreJobsHouston.com serves as a comprehensive resource, allowing users to browse thousands of job listings across various industries, from entry-level positions to more advanced career opportunities. It also provides information on job fairs, career training programs, and other services designed to assist in career development. The website is updated weekly with new listings and is fully automated, pulling in opportunities from across the region.
The platform is a significant expansion of Pollard's previous District J Jobs initiative, which now benefits the entire city of Houston. It aims to address not only employment challenges but also broader social issues, such as reducing crime, supporting mental health, and decreasing homelessness. Pollard emphasizes that by providing residents with better access to job opportunities, the site hopes to improve the overall quality of life in Houston and strengthen the local economy.
In collaboration with Custom Technology Solutions, Pollard's office developed the website to ensure that Houstonians can access employment opportunities efficiently from their phones or computers. The site also offers tools to help users with resume building, interview preparation, and connecting with local job fairs and training events.
The new portal is seen as an essential step in improving economic prospects for Houstonians, offering both immediate access to job opportunities and longer-term support for career growth. The site’s launch highlights the city’s commitment to using technology to enhance employment opportunities for all residents.
