Melissa Noriega Backs John Whitmire for Houston Mayor

John Whitmire announced that Melissa Noriega, Former State Representative and Former City Councilmember of Houston, has officially endorsed his candidacy for the position of Houston Mayor.

“Senator Whitmire brings an ability to get things done, often quietly and behind the scenes,” said Former State Representative Noriega. “In the current polarized environment, his experience, ability to work across the aisle and extensive relationships are a real strength. As Mayor, John Whitmire will leave Houston better than he found it.”

With 40 years of representation in the Texas Senate for District 15, following a decade in the Texas House, Whitmire is well-acquainted with Houston's greatness—a city where a diverse population collaborates on challenging matters. Committed to unlocking the city's full potential, he aims to address critical issues such as public safety, illegal dumping, homelessness, flooding and drainage, street and water system maintenance, and the development of a balanced and transparent budget. Additionally, Whitmire seeks to uplift the morale of police and firefighters, assuring them that Houston stands firmly behind them.
